Learning with an amazing cohort
By far, the staff and students in my department (the Sociology department) were the best parts about my time at Goldsmiths. It was such a privilege to learn with such an amazing cohort, and the passion that the Sociology department had was unparalleled. The courses were exciting, innovative, really well put together, and have enriched my creative and critical capacities beyond words.
The local area
South East London is a lovely place that feels, unlike a lot of the rest of London, like a real place where people actually live. You get what you put in here. There are a lot of different community initiatives in the area or easily accessed from New Cross/SE London.
Advice for future students
Know when to stop reading! You can't read it all and that's not the point anyway. Have good boundaries in general. Treat it like work – know when to switch off and go have fun. Get involved with local community projects/attend local events. Remember that you're here to expand your thinking, not to partake in a transaction. Befriend your cohort and your lecturers and you will have a wonderful experience.
