"The supportive and caring staff helped me to tailor the course to my changing interests."

"Goldsmiths gave me the opportunity to heal after some bad experiences at school and in my personal life. Having wanted to study drama, but not knowing what I wanted to do, the course was the perfect catch-all of any possible thing I could've wanted. Added to this was a supportive and caring staff that helped me to tailor the course to my changing interests. While I now work across education and the arts, rather than directly in the industry, it is my time at Goldsmiths that taught me the value of caring for others, and the joy of helping them to achieve. My work with young people with SEND emerged from engaging with community groups through my degree, and the stage management/administration pathways, which nurtured skills such as communication, empathy, organisation and a wider interest in disability. Theatrical methods of self-exploration practised on the course helped me understand my own values and emotions - an insight I use every day still.

In addition to getting one of the most open, exciting and innovative theatre courses on offer, Goldsmiths gave me a new family who supported me every step of the way, and whose words still guide how I live my life."
