Student Engagement Agents

Apply to be a Student Engagement Agent

Thank you for taking an interest in the Student Engagement Agent role.

This role supports the work of both the Widening Participation and Student Engagement and Success teams at the College, providing you with the opportunity to work with young people in a variety of exciting ways.

Our work is designed to remove barriers to access and success in Higher Education for UK students, creating a more equitable experience for all students.

Our agents are paid at £16.23 per hour in line with other student roles at the College. This pay rate is reviewed on an annual basis. This is a casual, flexible work opportunity – we have no minimum required hours, and aim to offer work that fits around your busy study schedule.

The application form will take roughly 45 minutes to complete.

About the role

We are looking to recruit Student Engagement Agents to support our activities next year. Our agents are effective communicators who deliver talks, attend Higher Education fairs, support mentoring projects and use their experience to advise prospective and current students about the University experience.

Our key projects include Welcome Week, campus visits for secondary school students, and mentoring with both undergraduate and secondary school students.

What we're looking for

Due to the importance of representation in our work, we are keen to encourage applications from students from these backgrounds:

  • Students who are eligible for free school meals
  • Students who are first in their family to enter Higher Education
  • Care leavers
  • Refugees and Asylum Seekers
  • Mature students
  • Students from IMD Q1 postcodes
  • Disabled students (those in receipt of disabled students’ allowance (DSA) and those who have declared a disability but are not in receipt of DSA)
  • Students from military families
  • Students estranged from their families
  • Students from GEM (Global Ethnic Majority) backgrounds

We would highly recommend speaking about your experiences within your answers to the written questions on this application form, to show us how you will relate to the young people we work with.

It has been proven time and again that the best way to engage with the young people on our events is through a shared lived experience, as this encourages them to be open, communicative and engaged during our activities. We welcome applications from all students at Goldsmiths.

Join the team and help us on our mission to improve student life.
