Who engagement sessions are for
These sessions are for students who have received a SEAtS email asking them to attend a Student Engagement Support Session with an Engagement Coach.
If you believe you have been sent this email in error, please confirm your attendance. If you need more guidance contact the Student Hub or visit the Hub in the library.
Why you have been invited to attend an engagement session
You will have received an automated SEAtS email inviting you to attend an engagement session if your attendance in the previous week has been below 50%.
We know that getting to classes regularly can make a huge difference to your success, confidence, and sense of belonging at university. But we also know that life can get in the way. If you’re finding it hard to keep up with attendance, you don’t have to manage it alone, our Student Engagement Coaches are here to support you.
Our Coaches offer friendly, non-judgemental support for any student who is identified through the SEAtS registration system. They can help you:
- Talk through what’s making attendance difficult
- Find the right support services for your situation
- Create a realistic plan to rebuild your routine and confidence
You’ll find the Student Engagement Coaches in RHB Room 120.
Drop-in sessions
If you are consistently missing 50% of scheduled teaching time for one - two weeks, you will be asked to attend one of our drop-in sessions.
Drop-in sessions run Mondays and Tuesdays during term time, from 11am-4pm in RHB Room 120.
One-to-one sessions
If you have had below 50% attendance to scheduled sessions over three weeks, you will be expected to book a one-to-one session with an engagement coach.
If you have not booked and met with an engagement coach after four weeks, you will be placed on probation for four weeks, after which, if you have not attended an engagement session and improved attendance, your case will be referred to college board.
One to one sessions take place Wednesday and Thursday and are by appointment only.
If you book a session and would like it to take place in a private space, please contact engagement (@gold.ac.uk).
Student campaigns
The Student Engagement Team, led by the Student Transitions and Campaigns Lead, runs a range of events throughout the year to support you at every stage of your studies.
These events are designed to support you through your higher education journey, connect with Goldsmiths support services, and build a sense of belonging and feel part of the community.
This page will be updated when events are scheduled.
