Goldsmiths is a dynamic and vibrant university that fosters excellence in research within a collegial and interdisciplinary environment with a shared commitment to social justice and transformation within and beyond the academy.

The mission of the graduate school is to enrich and safeguard the cultivation and training of new researchers, and expand and diversify the group of people who aspire, and are enabled, to pursue doctoral training and achieve scholarly excellence and social impact through creative practice and critical research.

We provide support and training that cultivates the imagination, cares for intellectual selves, and enhances the wellbeing of people who embark on a programme of advanced study and research. Through our Graduate School Fund, we offer a resource to support research and career development.

Research students play an active role in shaping our provision through formal SU representation on Postgraduate Research Board, through established postgraduate networks, such as the Goldsmiths Racialised Postgraduate Network and through our newly established advisory board, as well as the Annual Progress Monitoring process and the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey.

As a member of the Graduate School, you join a diverse and talented community of almost 800 research students. As a member of the University of London, you have access to national and international research events across the city. Our library's extensive resources are complemented by the holdings of Senate House Library.

We are also part of four innovative Doctoral Training Centres and Partnerships: CHASE and Design Star funded by the AHRC; South East Network of Social Sciences (SeNSS) funded by the ESRC; and Intelligent Games and Game Intelligence (IGGI) funded by the EPSRC.

Alongside the research seminars on offer in departments, centres and institutes within Goldsmiths and across the University of London, there are regular events and training workshops run by these doctoral training partnerships that are open to doctoral students in participating universities.

Welcome to Goldsmiths. You are an essential part of our vital intellectual environment and a key contributor to the research life and culture of the University. We wish you every success in your research.
