Nearly 900 scholars celebrated their graduation from Goldsmiths, University of London in December 2016

Our graduands marked the milestone across four ceremonies held in the Great Hall.

More than 1,400 family members and supporters packed in to cheer on the academic achievements of all those graduating.

The ceremonies saw the first graduates from Goldsmiths’ groundbreaking MA in Black British Writing – the first such course in the world.

Some 200 PGCE students also celebrated the landmark occasion.

December’s graduands were joined by five Honorands over the four ceremonies.

Glastonbury organisers Michael and Emily Eavis, Evening Standard Editor Sarah Sands and former Goldsmiths, University of London Council Member Dick Melly all received Honorary Fellowships of Goldsmiths, University of London.

Professor Carlo Ginzburg received an Honorary Degree of the University of London.

Each ceremony was followed by a marquee reception on College Green.

Warden Patrick Loughrey said: “This is a celebratory occasion for all at the university – but especially so for our graduates.

“It’s also a moment for them to reflect on how far they have travelled during their time at Goldsmiths: a chance to think about what they have taken from the university but also what they have given.

“I send my sincerest congratulations to all of our graduates and wish them the very best in their future endeavours.”
