This is a unique course that tests your own personal development as well as improving your professional standards to become an effective youth worker.
A diverse learning environment
The thing that I enjoyed most about the course was meeting a variety of people that came from many walks of life. The diversity and experience which students brought provided an amazing learning environment.
Developing your personal and professional skills
This is a unique course that really tests your own personal development as well as improving your professional standards to become an effective youth community worker.
The course was pivotal in informing and developing my own anti-oppressive practices, recognizing structural bias and institutional racism as well as empowering me to be able to challenge prejudice and racism in informal and professional settings.
Life beyond Goldsmiths
I currently work for a local Authority Council coordinating community-based grant programs, supporting the development of voluntary community and the faith sector, developing programmes to address health inequalities and supporting the council's social justice programme.
My previous role was in the Counter Extremism Department at the Home Office and youth work management prior to that.
Advice for future students
My advice for those who are looking to study at Goldsmith is to take advantage of all of the extracurricular activities and programmes on offer.
This will not only open up new friendships and networks outside of your area of study, but you'll also get to meet some amazing people who are at the very forefront of developing policies and strategies as well as meeting real trailblazers undertaking very interesting work.
A cultural setting
The university is based in a fantastic area of London with a huge amount of heritage culture and diversity, you will never feel out of place here and there are some really amazing places to eat, places to meet up and hang out.
