Year graduated 2000
Occupation University Tutor, Acting Coach and Drama School Teacher
Country Japan

"I studied BA (Hons) Drama and Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths, graduating in 2000. After this, I did a 3 year STAT approved teacher training course in London, and translated F.M. Alexander's 'The Use of the Self' into Japanese in 2010, this was the first time it had been done. I now teach undergraduate students in Performing Arts at a university, teach drama students and train professional performers privately, I also organise intensive seminars and workshops.

Studying at Goldsmiths broadened my perspective not only in Drama and Theatre Arts but also exposed me to a wider range of social diversity and cultural richness with its empathic attitude and intelligence. I learnt a lot, but most of all I encountered some of the most unique and vivid individuals I have ever met, which prepared me for teacher training and further education at MA level. I especially enjoyed socialising across different courses such as Contemporary Art, Media Studies, Anthrophology and with dancers from the Laban Centre, and I still keep in touch with some of them. I feel as if my time at Goldsmiths represents the essence of life in London."
