Have you ever considered how humour can improve our response to global warming? Do you want to find out more about Goldsmiths is encouraging local wildlife to thrive on an inner-city campus? These are just some of the initiatives that our community is working on to make a positive change to our planet.

At Goldsmiths, we look at climate change from all angles. Our curriculum review is leading to the development of new programmes that champion sustainability and foster the creation of industry and employment opportunities for an ever-changing world.

Our Green New Deal sets out our ambitious goals for reducing carbon emissions and creating an ecologically diverse campus. And many of our students and graduates are working tirelessly from grassroots initiatives to government policy development in order to have an impact.

A call to arms on the climate emergency

Climate change is one of the most significant challenges facing the world today. Through their Green New Deal campaign, Goldsmiths’ students and staff made a series of clear calls on the College to respond. On joining Goldsmiths, Professor Frances Corner recognised the importance of our community’s commitment to this issue and looked to recognise their ambitions by making climate action a key strategic focus for the College. Can humour help tackle climate change?

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we have ever faced. However, it can also be a topic that divides many. Persuading climate sceptics of its severity, and the need for action can be a near-impossible task. Second-year Psychology student, Caroline, is looking to take on this challenge from a new angle.
