"The MA Artist Teacher degree enabled me to underpin theory into my practice and reshaped the potential of what my practice could be. Originating from a Design background, I had fixed ideas about the type of work that I would create. This course shattered those concepts and gave me the freedom and confidence to construct new ideas outside of my skill base. This has enlightened both my abilities to educate and create.
The theory and knowledge at Goldsmiths is explosive! It is a place that pushes boundaries and demands your opinion. The lecturers taught us countless ways in which art can be used to change what happens inside your classroom and outside in the community. This course empowers your practice and personally enabled me to challenge what education deems to be valuable in the spheres of art and knowledge.
I now lead an Art and Design department for students at Post 16 Compulsory Education. I predominately teach Graphic Communication and Illustration but have involvement in orchestrating live projects and maintaining links with industry. As much as possible I practice my specialism of Graphic Design as a freelancer which has been integral in keeping my teaching practice current and purposeful.
This MA will edit, challenge and refine your ideas in how to approach people, learners, curriculum, art and society."
