Michael Guggenheim's profile picture

Dr Michael Guggenheim

Michael Guggenheim is a Reader at the Department of Sociology. He has studied in Zürich and Berlin, and obtained a PhD in Sociology in 2005 from the University of Zürich. Michael's work thus far has been defined by different yet connected themes relating to the relationship between experts and lay people, the role of objects for this relationship and on methodical and theoretical innovation derived from the combination of science studies with sociological theory.

Professor Marsha Rosengarten

Marsha Rosengarten is a Professor at the Department of Sociology. She has been active in establishing research networks, including the Unit of Play, Goldsmiths and the Association for Social Sciences and Humanities in HIV (ASSHH). Her key interest is in communicable infections and biomedicine. She convenes the Department of Sociology U/G Dissertation Course, and teaches an undergraduate option ‘Sex, Drugs and Technology’. She is Chair of the Sociology Department Ethics Committee and a member of Goldsmiths Research Ethics and Integrity Sub-Committee.

Dr Alex Wilkie

Alex Wilkie is a Reader in Design and Social Science at the Department of Design. His work combines aspects of social research, notably Science and Technology Studies (STS), with experimental design research. Alex brings these commitments to bear on several theoretical, substantive and methodological interests that engage with questions and politics of aesthetics, constructivist thought, energy and the environment, healthcare, inventive methods, human-computer interaction, participation, speculative reasoning and technology in more-than-human sociality.

Dr Emily Jay Nicholls

Emily Jay Nicholls is a sociologist interested in HIV, expertise, health activism and clinical practice. She is currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Global Health and Development at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the Institute for Global Health at University College London (UCL). In her current role at UCL, Emily is contributing to the qualitative work package on the CASCADE Collaboration on HIV seroconversion.
