More than 1,200 scholars from across the College graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London in July 2018.

Summer graduation 2018 took place across three days when the Great Hall was a place of true celebration.

Thousands of family members, friends and supporters were there to applaud the efforts and achievements of the class of 2018.

And the scholars were joined by prominent figures being awarded Honorary Fellowships across the six ceremonies that took place on 18, 19 and 20 July.

Those awarded were: British Vogue editor Edward Enninful OBE, former Lewisham Mayor Sir Steve Bullock, educationalist Mary Curnock Cook OBE, musician Dave Okumu and former Comic Relief chief executive Kevin Cahill CBE.

Also honoured were Goldsmiths staff who made a special contribution to College life over the academic year.

The Goldsmiths Students’ Union’s Student Led Teaching Awards were voted for by students and recognised the efforts of staff across four distinct categories.

This year’s winners were:

  • Challenging or Inspiring Teaching: Dr Carla Figueira from the Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship (ICCE)
  • Outstanding Use of Research in Teaching: Janna Graham from Visual Cultures
  • Compelling or Diverse Curriculum Content: Dr Deirdre Osborne from Theatre and Performance and Professor Joan Anim-Addo from English and Creative Writing
  • Non-Teaching or Support Staff Member Who Has Gone Above and Beyond: Corinna Talbot, Technical Advisor from Media and Communications

Patrick Loughrey, Warden of Goldsmiths, said: “Graduation is a truly special time, when the College gathers to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students.

“It’s also a moment to applaud the hard work of all of our staff at College who inspire, encourage and support our scholars.”
