Over 1,100 students from Goldsmiths, University of London joined in a celebration of their achievements as they graduated from the university on 18, 19, and 20 December 2017

In all some 1,900 family members, friends and supporters attended the ceremonies to share this landmark moment.

Patrick Loughrey, Warden of Goldsmiths, said: “Graduation is the highlight of our year: when we gather together to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students. We should cherish these special moments and both look back on the long and winding road it took to get here and look forward to the bright future unfolding ahead.

“This is a proud day not only for our students but also for their families and supporters who have helped them reach the summit of their academic studies. I congratulate each and every one of this year’s graduates and wish them great success in the years to come.”

When they crossed the stage of the Great Hall the graduates joined an alumni community of 60,000 people worldwide. Our alumni are among the jewels in Goldsmiths’ crown: they include Oscar-winners, artists, musicians and leaders in the worlds of culture, business and politics.

They are all different and defined from one another but they are all connected by one thing: their shared experience of learning and growing at Goldsmiths. Across the six ceremonies the students were joined by six distinguished figures from the worlds of entertainment, journalism, art, and technology who were also honoured by Goldsmiths.

Sir Lenworth George Henry (Lenny Henry), Keir Simmons, Hugo Manassei, Gillian Moore MBE, Gillian Tett, and Dennis Bovell were made Honorary Fellows of the university.
