Most landlords and agents will insist on a UK-based guarantor to cover rent and any damages or liabilities before they will rent to you. If you do not have a suitable guarantor, they may ask you to pay your rent 6-12 months in advance.
Our Rent Guarantor Service enables students with no UK-based guarantor to rent private sector accommodation that may not otherwise be available to them.
Who the service is for
All Goldsmiths students are welcome to apply, whether from the UK, Europe or Overseas and regardless of nationality.
It is open to new students who haven't yet enrolled at Goldsmiths.
Individual and joint tenancies are covered.
Housing Hand provides this service
Housing Hand is a secure and reliable rent guarantor provider.
Initially established to respond to student needs, Housing Hand is fully aware of student circumstances and of their many challenges when trying to secure suitable accommodation.
Housing Hand is trusted by agencies and works with 3,000+ accommodation providers, with applicants from 140+ countries.
Housing Hand will charge a Guarantor Fee, discounted for Goldsmiths students:
- 3.5% of annual rent if paid upfront
- 4.1% of annual rent if paid in eight monthly instalments
Financial assistance towards paying the Guarantor Fee
Goldsmiths will subsidise the Guarantor Fee for 35 students allocated to:
- 20 places International and EU students
- 10 places Home students
- 5 places Care Leavers* and Estranged* students
This is a limited offer subject, to eligibility and availability, and applies only to students using the Housing Hand Rent Guarantor Service.
