Council Governance Effectiveness Review

Making sure our Council and committee governance is effective

We have commissioned an independent advisory review of the effectiveness of our Council and its committees, with the scope of this review to assess institutional and regulatory governance effectiveness.

The review is in place to ensure that our university is run effectively with clear accountability, compliance, management of risk and defined pathways for decision-making. It is not a review of executive, managerial or operational policies or processes.

The Council Governance Effectiveness Review is taking place across Spring and Summer terms. The independent advisory review is being led by Halpin Partnership, who are experts in university governance.

Through a mix of surveys, interviews and focus groups the review will consider the views of students and staff and their union representatives alongside members of Council, our governing body, and Academic Board which is our senior body of academic oversight. Our wider community is also invited to make submissions to the review.

Information on the review including how to contribute is published on the Halpin Partnership website.
