Moving from China to the UK

Initially, she found the cultural differences challenging but soon made important friendships and realized the vast opportunities available to explore new paths beyond her major in art and design.

In London, she transitioned to becoming a creative technologist, gaining hands-on experience in coding and other fields. The diverse and welcoming environment at Goldsmiths, along with social networking opportunities, allowed her to expand her horizons and explore different industries.

Finding community at Goldsmiths

In terms of the community aspect, Mai appreciates the eccentric and supportive nature of Goldsmiths. She felt relieved from the pressure to conform and appreciated the lecturers' care for students from diverse backgrounds. Working in a diverse team with individuals from various countries, she learned to navigate cultural differences and collaborate effectively.

Overall, Mai Ye shares that Goldsmiths provided not only academic growth but also valuable lessons in teamwork and cultural understanding, enriching her overall experience.
