Psychology and Neuroscience funding opportunities

ESRC studentships

Goldsmiths is part of the South East Network for Social Science (SENSS) ESRC, funded by the ESRC to train the next generation of social scientists.

If you're thinking about carrying out a research degree in the social sciences, you could be eligible to apply for a studentship covering your fees for up to four years and an annual stipend. International tuition fees are covered. ESRC also offers 1+3 (Masters + PhD) studentships for those who also require MSc training in one of our taught MSc programmes in Psychology.

To be considered, you need to have applied for a relevant research programme at Goldsmiths.

Find out more about ESRC funding.

Student-led studentships

For the student-led studentships, Psychology is eligible for the following themes: Health, Well-Being & Social Care; Justice, Institutions & Social Change; Digital Social Sciences; and Advanced Methods in Social & Economic Research.

Visit the to SENSS website for more details of this scholarship.

You first must apply and be accepted onto a programme within the field of Psychology by 6 December 2024. Once accepted, you must apply to SENSS by 22 January 2025 to be considered for funding. The School of Mind, Body and  Society is no longer accepting applications for the student-led funding, and you cannot apply to this award without first being accepted by Goldsmiths.

Please contact a potential supervisor to discuss this funding opportunity, as you will not be admitted without supervisor support.

Psychology and Neuroscience Bursaries

We also offer subject-specifc bursaries in Psychology and Neuroscience, which cover home (domestic) tuition fees and an annual stipend for up to three years (full-time, 6 years part-time).

You will be expected to contribute to undergraduate teaching as part of the stipend. This funding will involve teaching psychology undergraduate and/or MSc students and marking papers for a certain number of hours per year. It covers domestic tuition fees and stipend – international students can apply but must cover the difference between home and international fees. The funding is eligible to students researching any topic.

Students are only eligible for +3 PhD training. Anyone interested in pursuing an MSc should apply to the MSc programme. You will need to contact a potential supervisor first.

For all types of funding, please see the staff page and contact potential supervisors directly to discuss your research proposal and funding (some supervisors may have their own grants which will fund student fees). Students will not be admitted without the potential supervisor’s support.
