How to apply for your Student visa in your home country.
Primary page content
If you are an international student applying for a Student visa outside of the UK you will need to make your application from the Country in which you normally live.
You can make your application up to six months in advance of your course start date and once you have your Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) statement.
We recommend that you check the visa processing times in your country so that you can plan ahead.
Visa application process
Receive your CAS statement from Goldsmiths
Complete your online visa application in your home country. If we checked your financial documents and approved them, you must submit your online visa application before the bank statements expire, which is 31 days from the date they were issued to you by the bank.
Pay your Immigration Health Surcharge
Pay for your visa application
Choose where you want to pick up your visa from when you get to the UK. You must use the secure code (2HE537) we provided you with when we sent your CAS statement so that your visa (BRP) will be sent directly to Goldsmiths.
Book an appointment for your ‘biometric’ data to be taken
Submit and print your application
Current issues for visa applicants outside of the UK
Many of the UK’s Visa Application Centres (VACs) are currently closed and we anticipate more closing and those that are open are offering limited services.
For up to date advice on services in each country individuals should access the relevant commercial partner:
- Europe, Africa and parts of the Middle East visit: uk.tlscontact.com (TLS)
- All other countries visit: vfsglobal.co.uk (VFS)
Visa applicants outside of the UK who are affected by travel restrictions associated with coronavirus should visit the Coronavirus (COVID-19): advice for UK visa applicants and temporary UK residents webpage for the latest information and guidance.
Due to border restrictions affecting several countries across the globe, TLS and VFS are currently unable to print and send visa vignettes across certain borders and routes.
Where visa applicants have an appointment and the VAC is now closed, TLS and VFS are advising applicants that the appointment will not going ahead.
Applicants who have paid for courier return, TLS / VFS are sending passports back (where courier routes remain open to allow them to do so). If applicants are concerned about their passport, they can contact Coronavirus Immigration Team for advice: CIH (@homeoffice.gov.uk)
If your passport is currently held in a VAC but they have not previously arranged for it to be returned by courier, please contact either TLS contact or VFS global directly or let us know if you are unable to do that.
If you are coming to the UK to study for six months or more and live in a particular country, then you will be required to undertake a TB test. The GOV.UK website has more information and the list of countries which require a TB test.
