The following software is available for students and staff to use on your personal computer. This has been paid for as part of the licenses Goldsmiths has purchased.

 

Microsoft office

You will need to use your credentials to register this software, with your username in the format:

username@campus.goldsmiths.ac.uk
eg: jblog005@campus.goldsmiths.ac.uk

You will then be taken to a login screen that looks like the sign in screen for Goldmail. Here, just use your username and password as per usual.

Some users have been unable to register their copies of Microsoft Office from home. In this case, we recommend that you attempt to register your account on campus when connected to the eduroam network. If this is still unsuccessful, please bring your computer to the  and we can assist you with registering this product.

Endnote Web Plugin

EndNote Web Plugin is a web-based program which integrates:

  • Organising your references
  • Producing formatted bibliographies instantly and automatically
  • Searching online bibliographic databases

To use the Endnote Web Plugin, you will first need to set up an Endnote Web account. This will need to be done on a Goldsmiths computer - you will not be able to set up this account on your personal machine.

To obtian Endnote Web, sign into My Endnote Web and obtain the Endnote Web plugin from Format > Cite While You Write Plugin

You will need to ensure that you have uninstalled any other version of Endnote Web before installing the latest version of the plugin.

When installation is finished, open Word and you should see the EndNote Web Cite While You Write ribbon item.

Configure login information

If you are using Cite While You Write for the first time, you will be prompted to sign into your Endnote Web account.

NVivo

To obtain the current NVivo licence code please type your username in the field below.




To obtain the NVivo installer, click the link below that is appropriate to your Operating System. You will be prompted to log in with your credentials. Download the appropriate installer but do not run it until you have a license code. You will be prompted for your username and password.

Mac installer

Windows (32-bit) installer

Windows (64-bit) installer

Once you have obtained the Nvivo installers and licence code, you are ready to install the software. This process can take up to 30 minutes.

SPSS

To obtain the current SPSS licence code please type your username in the field below.



SPSS installer

To obtain the SPSS installer, click the link below that is appropriate to your Operating System. You must also download the installers equivalent fix. For example, if you download SPSS version 23 Windows (64-bit) installer, you must also download Windows (64-bit) Fix 3. You will be prompted to log in with your credentials. Download the appropriate installer and fix but do not run the installer until you have a license code. You will be prompted for your username and password.

Once you have obtained the SPSS installer, patches and licence code, you are ready to install the software. This process can take up to 30 minutes.

Updating licence code (Windows)

To update SPSS to the new license code:

  1. Go to the Start menu » All Programs > IBM SPSS Statistics > IBM SPSS Statistics 23 License Authorization Wizard.
  2. License Status: this shows the SPSS components you are currently licenced for and their expiry dates. Click Next.
  3. Product Authorization Select License my product now and clickNext.
  4. Enter Codes Copy and paste the new authorisation code emailed to your university account and click Next.
  5. Highlight > Ctrl-C to copy > click in dialog box > Ctrl-V to paste
  6. Internet Authorization Status: Successfully processed all codes. Click Next.
  7. 'Licensing Completed' lists all licences installed with their expiry date. Click Finish.

Updating licence code (Mac)

To update SPSS to the new license code:

  1. Go to the Applications folder > IBM > SPSS » Statistics > 23 > double-click SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard.app.
  2. License Status: this shows the SPSS components you are currently licenced for and their expiry dates. Click Next.
  3. Product Authorization Select License my product now and click Next.
  4. Enter Codes Copy and paste the new authorisation code emailed to your university account and click Next.
  5. Internet Authorization Status: Successfully processed all codes. Click Next.
  6. Click Finish.

SPSS AMOS

To obtain the current SPSS Amos licence code please type your username in the field below.



SPSS Amos installer

To obtain the SPSS Amos installer, click the link below that is appropriate to your Operating System. You will be prompted to log in with your credentials. Download the appropriate installer but do not run it until you have a license code. You will be prompted for your username and password.

Installer:

Version 22: Windows installer 

Version 23: Windows installer  

Once you have obtained the SPSS Amos installer and licence code, you are ready to install the software. This process can take up to 30 minutes.

Version 17.1 Premium (IBM SPSS Modeler Premium must be installed on a system where SPSS Modeler 17.1 is already installed)

Updating licence code

To update SPSS Modeler to the new license code:

Go to the Start menu » All Programs > IBM SPSS Modeler 17.0 > License Authorization Wizard.

Product Authorization Select License my product now and click Next.

Enter Codes Copy and paste the new authorisation code emailed to your College account and click Next.

Highlight > Ctrl-C to copy > click in dialog box > Ctrl-V to paste

MATLAB

Goldsmiths has a campus-wide license for MATLAB, Simulink, and companion toolboxes. The license covers on-campus and home software use for all students and staff. To receive a link to MATLAB licence and installation instructions by email please type your username in the field below. 

 



Sophos Anti-Virus

Our anti-virus software is called Sophos. All current Goldsmiths staff and students can install the software themselves on their computer. To do so, you need to be logged on with ‘Administrator’ rights. 

Licence codes

Sophos requires a Username and Password to activate the product. It's best to get them before you begin installing. Enter your username in the box below and click the button. You will be taken to an online form, which includes agreeing to the copyright statement. The codes will be sent to your university email account when you have completed it. If you are having trouble accessing the box below, contact the IT Service Desk.

Downloading the installer software

Use the appropriate link for your computer below to install the software. Each file is about 96MB each in size:

Installing Sophos Anti-Virus

Once the installer file has downloaded double-click it to start installation and follow the prompts on screen.

When you reach the 'Update source' page, direct the programme to where to the updated anti-virus files are (The programme will automatically search for these each hour when you are connected to the internet).

  • In the Address box select Sophos
  • In the Username and Password boxes enter the licence codes which were emailed to your university email account when you requested them above.

Adobe Creative Cloud (Staff only)

Adobe Creative Cloud can be provided to all Goldsmiths staff for use on up to two personal devices. Creative Cloud licences do not currently extend to students at this time.

To obtain a licence code for Adobe Creative Cloud, please contact the IT Service Desk at helpdesk(@gold.ac.uk) and follow the instructions in the following help guide:
