Microsoft 365 Office apps

As Goldsmiths staff member or student, you have access to the Microsoft 365 apps on up to 5 personal devices.

As a Goldsmiths registered student, you can install Microsoft 365's suite of productivity application on up to five personal devices. The suite includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Publisher.

Windows

IT and Digital Services does not provide training on Microsoft 365, but can answer questions.

You can access free Microsoft training courses at the Microsoft 365 Training Center, which is an online resource containing hundreds of training courses covering all the Microsoft applications.

Microsoft 365 for Windows

To install Microsoft 365 Office apps on your Windows machine: 

  • Sign in to your email
  • Click on your initials on the top-right of the screen, then select My Account
  • Then select Office apps
  • Click on Install (if you are prompted with a User Account Control popup, click on Yes)
  • Once it's downloaded, open the installer and wait for the installation to complete, at which point you can click on Close
  • Open any of the Microsoft 365 Office apps. You will now need to authenticate your Office Suite (if you are prompted to accept the Microsoft 365 Office license, click on Accept).
  • When you are prompted to Sign In using your username, please insert your username in the following format: abcde001@campus.goldsmiths.ac.uk

You have now authenticated your Microsoft 365 suite which is ready for use.

Mac

Microsoft 365 for Mac

To install Microsoft 365 on your Mac machine: 

  • Sign in to your @gold.ac.uk email
  • Click on your initials on the top-right of the screen, then select View Account
  • Then select Office Apps
  • Once it's downloaded, open the installer and wait for the installation to complete (follow the installation wizard by clicking on Continue and Install and accepting the T&C). You might be prompted to enter your computer admin password
  • Open any of the Microsoft Office applications. You will now need to authenticate your Office Suite (if you are prompted to accept the Microsoft Office license, click on Accept)
  • When you are prompted to Sign In using your username, please insert your username in the following format: abcde001@campus.goldsmiths.ac.uk

You have now authenticated your Microsoft 365 which is ready for use. 

Microsoft 365 for mobile devices

If you want Microsoft 365 Office apps on your tablet or phone, you will need to download the products via Google Play or Apple Store (they are free). Once downloaded you will need to authenticate as follows: 

  • When you are asked to sign in, enter your username in the following format: abcde001@campus.goldsmiths.ac.uk

You have now authenticated your Microsoft 365 apps on your mobile device.
