Teaching and Supervision

Research interests

My work focuses on the intersection of fiction and non-fiction, biography and autobiography, the structures of memory and the way lives can be constructed (or reconstructed) through narrative. I am also interested in oral storytelling, and believe in questioning the way in which writing has been given primacy over older forms of narrative including ballad, epic and folklore. I am interested in crossing boundaries: between ancient and modern, poetry and prose, fiction and non-fiction.
