Immigration guidance for Study Abroad

International students joining the Goldsmiths Study Abroad or Erasmus+ programme may need a visa to study with us. The visa you need depends on the length of your studies.

Single semester (Autumn or Spring/Summer only)

If you are joining the Study Abroad programme or Erasmus+ programme for the autumn semester only or for the spring/summer semester, you will likely need a Standard Visitor visa. Students from certain countries need to obtain a Standard Visitor visa before travelling. Find out more about which countries this applies to.

Other students will be able to obtain their visa at the border. You will need to request a letter from our Immigration Advisory Service confirming your acceptance at Goldsmiths to present to the border officer. Further guidance is available on our immigration webpages.

Full academic year programme and internship programme

If you are joining the Study Abroad or Erasmus+ programme for the full academic year or you are joining the Study Abroad internship programme, you will likely need a Student visa. You must meet the eligibility requirements. You will find more information about the rules, and application guidance on our Student Visas page.

We have a dedicated Immigration Advisory Service to help you with any immigration questions you might have. They offer workshops, drop-in sessions, individual appointments, and email advice. You can contact them with any enquiries at immigration (@gold.ac.uk).
